Sandwich is the least seasonal town on Cape Cod. Most homes are lived in by the families who own them, so the dryer runs all twelve months, and a yearly cleaning is the right habit.
Homes from the 1970s, '80s, and '90s: more than half of Sandwich's homes were built between 1975 and 1999. Many still have their original vent runs, and some still have a foil or white plastic hose behind the dryer, which was common then but doesn't meet today's code.
Historic houses in Sandwich Village and Spring Hill: 18th- and 19th-century homes, including the houses built for Boston & Sandwich Glass Company workers in Jarvesville, got their laundry rooms long after they were built. Vents often snake through basements and crawlspaces, because you can't always take the shortest path through a historic exterior.

Do you serve all of Sandwich?
Yes: Sandwich Village, Town Neck, Jarvesville, East Sandwich, Spring Hill, Forestdale, and South Sandwich. The one exception is the Scusset Beach area, the small piece of Sandwich on the mainland side of the Cape Cod Canal, which we don't cover.
My house was built in the '80s and has a foil hose behind the dryer. Is that a problem?
It's common in homes from that era, but foil and plastic hoses don't meet today's code. We'll note it in your report with photos, and any replacement is quoted up front for you to approve first.
We live here year-round. How often should the vent be cleaned?
The Chimney Safety Institute of America recommends a dryer vent inspection every year. For a household that does laundry all year, an annual cleaning is a good rhythm.
Our antique house has a long, winding vent. Does that cost more?
