What the $199 Flat Rate Includes

Every dryer vent cleaning on Cape Cod is one flat rate of $199, no matter how long or complicated your vent system is. There is no "premium clean" upsell and no extra charge for a long vent. Each cleaning includes:

• A full inspection of your dryer venting system, from the dryer all the way to the outside termination

• A look inside your dryer and behind the lint housing with a borescope

• A check of the transition duct behind the dryer, to make sure it isn't coiled, crushed or torn

• Cleaning inside the dryer, where lint builds up past the lint screen

• A full cleaning of the vent run with brushes, rods and high-powered HEPA filter vacuums

• An airflow reading at the outside vent while the dryer runs

• A digital report with your airflow numbers and before-and-after photos

When part of a vent runs through walls or ceilings that can't be reached, we can use in-duct video inspection equipment to see inside it. When a heavy stacked unit or a dryer on delicate flooring has to be moved, we use Airsled appliance movers to protect your floors.

A Certified Dryer Exhaust Technician (C-DET) evaluates your entire venting system, from the dryer to the termination point, and you get a detailed report of what we found, with recommendations for safety and efficiency.

If we recommend a service and you have it done during the same visit, the $49 is credited toward that work. If the work needs a second visit, the inspection fee stays separate from the service fee. Repairs, re-routes, system redesigns and new vent installs are billed as time and materials, and you approve an exact quote before any work begins.

Why Should I Get My Dryer System Inspected?

Lint and debris build up in your clothes dryer vent, causing your dryer to exhaust at less than optimal efficiency. Because lint is extremely flammable, this buildup presents a significant fire hazard to your home.

Common Questions

How often should I have my dryer vent cleaned?

At least once a year for most homes. That's the recommendation from the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the Chimney Safety Institute of America and dryer manufacturers. Plan on every 6 to 8 months if you run the dryer more than a few times a week, have a big household or shedding pets, or have a long vent with several bends. For rentals and second homes on Cape Cod with heavy summer turnover, have the vent cleaned before the season starts and again after it ends.

What are the signs my dryer vent is clogged?

• A load takes much longer than it used to, or clothes are still damp after a full cycle

• The dryer, the clothes or the laundry room feel unusually hot or humid

• A burning or musty smell while the dryer runs

• Lint around the outside vent, or a vent flap that barely opens

If you smell burning, stop using the dryer right away and get the vent checked before you run it again.

I clean my lint trap after every load. Isn't that enough?

It's an important habit, but it isn't enough. The lint screen catches most lint, not all of it. The rest builds up inside the dryer cabinet and along the vent pipe, especially at bends, low spots and the outside hood. That's why every cleaning includes the inside of the dryer as well as the vent.

How long does a cleaning take, and is it messy?

Most standard residential cleanings take 30 to 90 minutes. Longer runs and roof vents take longer. We clean with brushes and strong vacuum collection, so the lint goes into the machine, not into your laundry room.

Can a blocked dryer vent cause carbon monoxide?

With a gas dryer, yes. A gas dryer's vent carries combustion gases outside, and if it's blocked, crushed or disconnected, carbon monoxide can back up into the house. Electric dryers don't produce carbon monoxide, but a blocked vent is still a fire risk.
